There are some absolutely awesome movies coming out in 2010 and if you're a major film geek like I am then I'm guessing you're going to have a favourite seat in your local cinema by the end of the year... if you don't have one already that is ;)
There's a good mix on the schedule of new flicks and new takes on old ideas, spanning action, animated, comedy, documentary, fantasy, horror, sci-fi, et al.
Nicholas Cage gets a decent amount of screen time this year with Kick Ass, Season Of The Witch, and The Sorcerer's Apprentice all being released in the coming months.
As much as most self declared comic geeks out there are dying for the awesome that is Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark in Iron Man 2, Kick Ass is the movie that a lot of comic fans are hanging out for. The two films are complete opposites of real versus unreal... or street cred versus credit card ;) I personally can't wait for the irresponsible parental units out there that unwittingly teach their superhero-loving mini-geeks a few choice words when then decide to take them to see Kick Ass without knowing anything about the film beforehand... should be great for a few laughs ;D
Old school geeks rejoice at the retelling of your past favourites in everything from classic fairytales and Greek myths to 1980's horror and childhood animated shows come to life!
Everything old is new again when it comes to films, especially when Tim Burton is at the helm! The magic that is Tim Burton, Danny Elfman and Johnny Depp will delight one and all while it reconstructs a classic tale with a genius eye, sound and portrayal. Add to that the magnificence that is Helena Bonham Carter (can you tell I'm a fan?) and Alice In Wonderland is sure to be a memorable viewing experience!
Jackie Earle Haley hits the screen this year as Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare On Elm Street and, while I loved him as Rorschach in Watchmen, I was unsure how he would be in the retelling of Elm St. That's the great thing about actors, they can make us believe in any role and from the moment I saw the trailer for the new film all my worries were gone! This is not going to be Robert Englund up on the screen, that man will forever be a legend to all horror buffs, but that's perfectly fine because it's blowing the dust of the old celluloid and looking at it with fresh eyes :)
2010 is shaping up to be a great year in big screen entertainment so I thought I'd continue to share my excitement via some trailers!
