Doctor Who S5 TARDIS Console Images

Doctor Who fans have been dying to see what the new Doctor brings with him in the way of a TARDIS revamp, and now some publicity photos have been released with Matt Smith and Karen Gillan, as The Doctor and Amy, posing in the interior of the TARDIS console room.

I would love to see more of the interior and less of The Doctor & Amy posing. We already know what they look like, but we've all been waiting to see the new TARDIS interior design. Personally I would have loved to see a tiny glimpse of some of the other rooms we've heard about in the lead up to the release of season five, as they've now settled on calling the new season.

I'm looking forward to seeing the multiple levels and rooms, like the pool and library, that we've been told about, and I think it will be fun to see the console in action OH SO SOON on our screens :) It's hard to believe that it's only a few days until it airs in the UK!

The new console is apparently a mish-mash of eras with it's additions of pressure gauges, a telephone, a morse code machine, and a typewriter, and is something of an obstacle course for Matt. In an interview Matt stated with a laugh that "It's so incredible because the TARDIS is an icon of our cultural history and suddenly I'm the one who's flying it. I am quite clumsy though so I kept breaking parts of the console and the poor production team had to keep fixing it.".

The start of the Matt Smith era of Doctor Who begins with Episode One of Season Five, written by Steven Moffat and titled The Eleventh Hour. The episode synopsis states...

The Doctor has regenerated into a brand-new man, but danger strikes before he can even recover. With the TARDIS wrecked and the sonic screwdriver destroyed, the new Doctor has just 20 minutes to save the whole world - and only Amy Pond to help him.

The Eleventh Hour airs in the UK this Saturday, April 3rd, with screening dates of April 16th and 17th in Australia and the US.
